In 1999, we were faced with the usual holiday dilema of what to buy our numerous friends, relatives and associates for holiday gifts. After looking all the expensive gifts we didn't like or couldn't afford, we decided to try and come up with something different from the usual holiday gifts like chocolates, candies or fruitcake.

That year we enrolled in an herbology class at the local community college. The teacher did a segment on glycerin soap-making, and we were hooked! We'd found our solution to the holiday gift-giving question, and found a wonderful activity we could do together.

Our soaps were an incredible hit! Our relatives friends and associates were thrilled, and many asked if they could buy more soap to give to their friends as gifts. Slippery Business was formed after we brought some of our soap to a holiday gift exchange. People began fighting over our unusual soap designs, and we realized there is a market for beautifully crafted, naturally-made soaps.
